In today's Claire Chats video I talk about the contrast between the letter Henry VIII wrote to Anne Boleyn in June 1528, when he'd just found out that she'd come down with sweating sickness, and his other letters to her. I show photographs of those letters so you can see the difference Sandra Vasoli talked about in her recent talk.
The book I show is Die Liebesbriefe Heinrichs VIII an Anna Boleyn by Theo Stemmler. It is on Amazon.de but the ones I found on there would only ship to German addresses. I got my copy from a bookshop in Stuttgart via Abebooks.com. Here is a link to ZVAB.com who have copies of it available as I write this:
http://www.zvab.com/buch-suchen/titel/die-liebesbriefe-heinrich-viii/autor/theo-stemmler
I also found mention of the book at http://www.booklooker.de/B%C3%BCcher/Angebote/titel=Die+Liebesbriefe+Heinrichs+VIII+an+Anna+Boleyn&autor=Theo+Stemmler&sortOrder=preis_total
It is also available on Amazon.de but only for Germany (just thought to mention it in case there are German members looking for it).
Thanks, Audrey. I think I did mention that in the post above but thanks for drawing attention to it. I was so frustrated when I found a few copies on there but then couldn’t order it because they wouldn’t ship outside of Germany. Luckily I found a bookshop that would post internationally – phew!
Oh, yes, sorry Claire, now I see! I totally missed that in your post. I understand how you feel. I had exactly the same reaction when I saw the book on amazon.de. But…I think I can get one via the zvab-link you gave in your post. I already ordered it, but they only have to email me about the details for payment! I can’t wait to have it, haha. By the way: if you need translation you can ”call’ me, because we learn German in high school and it is very similar to Dutch.
I got mine from Zvab and they were really good, it got here really fast and was well packaged.
Thank you, that’s so kind of you and I’ll definitely bear that in mind.
