As today is the anniversary of the death of Bishop John Aylmer, who is said to have had one of his teeth extracted in order to prove to Queen Elizabeth I that the pain wasn't as bad as she thought, I thought I'd share this talk from our archives. It's on tooth extractions, dentistry and how people cared for their teeth in Tudor times.
