The second month of the year was one filled with love and a historic twosday (2/22/22). However, February was also a month in which we got a preview of a new Tudor series and a book about Thomas Cranmer was published.
First Look: the New Elizabeth
This summer Starz is bringing the story of the young Queen Elizabeth I to life in the series ‘Becoming Elizabeth’. In some new images they have shared on their Instagram account, we get a sneak peek of actors Alicia von Rittberg and Tom Cullen who play the queen and Thomas Seymour.

The Tudor Crown Might Make a Comeback
When King Henry VIII was crowned in 1509, he wore the Tudor Crown. The last time it appeared on the royal insignia (an image that represents the British monarchy), was when King George VI was on the throne. The Telegraph now reports that Prince Charles might change this and will likely feature the crown on the new insignia when he becomes King Charles III.
Book: The Sacrificing of Thomas Cranmer
“On the 21st of March 1556, he will pay the ultimate sacrifice. He will be the first Archbishop of Canterbury to be burned at the stake.” After her New Lanark series, author C. A. Hope is moving on to the Tudor era with a book on the Anglican Archbishop Thomas Cranmer.

The Next Coin in the Collection
Last year in November The Royal Mint and Historic Royal Palaces unveiled a new range of collectable coins named The Tudor Beasts Collection. The first one was The Seymour Panther, but now a new one has come out: The Lion of England.
According to The Royal Mint it is truly the king of the Royal Beasts as it is one of the oldest and most iconic royal beasts in heraldic art. “Chosen to represent pride and courage, the Lion of England on the Moat Bridge at Hampton Court Palace held a shield bearing the impaled – or combined – arms of Henry VIII and Jane Seymour, symbolising the strength of the couple’s union.”
