It's not unusual for my interest to be piqued when I'm going through my list of "on this day" events, and today it was William Carter's execution, on 11th January 1584, which made me want to dig a bit deeper into his story.
Here's a link to Burton and Pollen's Lives of the English Martyrs which is a very interesting read - https://archive.org/stream/livesofenglishma01burtuoft#page/n5/mode/2up.

Very nice series of daily chat….thoroughly enjoying them!!! Thank you!!
I’m so glad you’re enjoying them, Shelley, thank you!
Blessed William Carter was martyred because he worked for a printer who printed Catholic pamphlets. His own work encouraged people in their faith, not promoting the death of the Queen Elizabeth I.
He didn’t work for the printer, he was actually the printer.
