Teasel was off there ! The urge to chase one of your cats was too great Claire, we have always eaten pheasant as the family was small so it was ideal, one year mum did get a turkey but unfortunately she ordered it from the local supermarket and we were very disappointed with it, it was dry and tasteless after pheasant, which has a much more gamey flavour, my mum should have bought it from a butchers that bought organic turkeys, extensive breeding over the years has ruined the taste, I recall my dad saying that years ago chickens tasted so much better, if you tried goose Claire I hope you enjoyed it as it’s a nice flavour but the bird is fatty, you have to drain the juices, but it is large enough to feed quite a few, one year my dad bought home a dead one he’d found in the field, so we had that it’s lovely with apple sauce, hope you had a lovely Christmas
